Surfactant Bleeding

“Surfactant Bleeding” also known as “Surfactant Leaching” is a common problem here in the Pacific Northwest, but it’s nothing to be alarmed about. It will not harm the paint job and the problem can be easily be fixed with a quick rinse from a garden hose. Surfactant Bleeding is most common with darker colors on exterior paint jobs. It occurs from the dampness or fog during the night. It will make the surface look oily and shiny. It can also appear in a bathroom that lacks proper ventilation. surfactant bleed
